evelina zvagule, Design technician at ABB, raleigh North carolina
My name is Evelina, and I am currently completing my internship as an Electrical Engineer at the ABB Research Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. My work focuses on developing a MATLAB-based GUI application to control a Simulink microgrid model, as well as performing data analytics for smart home systems using Python and machine learning. Through these projects, I’ve been able to contribute to research that advances more sustainable and efficient energy solutions.
I’ve been enjoying life in Raleigh, also known as the “City of Oaks.” I spend much of my time running and biking along the city’s green spaces, trails, and greenways. Outside of work, I’ve embraced new experiences, from discovering diverse foods and making new friends. Memorable trips to Miami, Chicago, New York, and Austin added extra spark to the journey, but the highlight was celebrating my birthday in Key West, where I went snorkeling for the first time.
This internship has been transformative in shaping the way I see my future in electrical engineering. It has strengthened my passion for automation systems and renewable energy. I am truly grateful to have been part of ABB’s mission to push the boundaries of innovation.
