My internship at ABB Corporate Research Center began in late August 2025. Since landing in Raleigh, I have had the pleasure of experiencing southern hospitality firsthand. As part of the Research Triangle, Raleigh is an up-and-coming city with a lot to offer, particularly in the fields of science and technology. I find the abundance of parks, hiking trails, and the absence of a concrete jungle soothing, as this truly feels like the place for me. My daily life consists of work, going to the gym, trying new recipes, and spending time with friends on the weekends.
At ABB, I am a part of the robotics team, where we research cutting-edge topics in the field of AI and robotics, such as Vision-Language-Action models. During my time here, I have enhanced my robotics skills by learning about new paradigms, libraries, and following the latest research, all while getting the satisfaction of applying my previous skills every day. ABB's diverse workforce has allowed me to connect with people from all over the world, for example, a friend from work even invited me to an Ethiopian-American Thanksgiving celebration.
Outside of my daily life, I have had the opportunity to travel to Miami and San Juan in Puerto Rico. I have ambitious plans for the remainder of my internship, and I am truly excited to see how they unfold! The best is yet to come.
