Hi from New York! My day to day life in this city is very busy and dynamic. I’m a digital marketing specialist at a start-up company that offers New York entrepreneurs and professionals in various fields co-working space and a variety of educational, networking and growth events. I have the opportunity to operate in a dynamic environment, building a social media strategy, planning, creating and monitoring content across different digital channels, and creating real-time content from a variety of events that enable me to both travel with colleagues and gain valuable contacts.
As a young professional in digital media with a great passion for sports, I try to attend various networking events and conferences in the sports industry, thus gaining professional experience not only within, but also outside, my professional internship. New York is a wonderful city - events and opportunities like this are around the corner pretty much all the time. And along with other BAFF professional internship participants, I regularly attend various cultural events as well as travel together.
A trip to Arizona and the Grand Canyon with colleagues from my professional internship host company is the most vivid thing to remember right now. I also challenge myself professionally on a regular basis, so in my spare time I started making my podcast about trends in the sports and media industry in the U.S. Led by this initiative, I had the opportunity to go to Florida - a game of the National Hockey Association (NHL) club 'Florida Panthers' (in which our Latvian ice hockey player - Uvis Balinskis is playing) and see behind the scene of the work in NHL by shadowing and recording an interview with a digital content professional from Latvia who has been part of the club for several seasons. Alongside such experiences, I also learn a lot about the role of women in sports here, thus also coming down to a face-to-face conversation with Jessica Campbell - the first female coach in the NHL (assistant head coach of NHL club Seattle '' Kraken ').
