Since joining the team at AON as a claims analyst, I have been immersed in the dynamic world of insurance. From day one, I’ve supported projects that shape how the company operates across multiple countries — helping decommission an old claims platform and introduce a new one. In my first month, I explored the new system, wrote training pages, created data display overviews, assisted in storyboard creation, collected and analyzed data, performed regression testing, replicated configurations, and began learning a new report‑building program. I also joined daily stand‑ups, sprint demos, retrospectives, and team meetings, gaining valuable insights into both the industry and my team’s project specifics.
Being involved in so many aspects of the work has allowed me to expand my knowledge and learn directly from highly experienced colleagues.
Outside of work, I’ve been adapting to life in Chicago — a fast‑paced city full of contrasts and diverse cultures. I’ve explored museums, parks, and bookstores, joined a run club, played board games after work, tried traditional foods, and followed local recommendations. Highlights include my first live NBA game, ZooLights, and watching Home Alone in concert with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Celebrating Latvia’s birthday with the local community has also helped me feel at home.
